Raja Sen (b. 1955), film director based in Kolkata. Shot to fame with his debut feature Damu (1997), bagging the year’s National Film Award for Best Children’s Film and the ShiromaniPuraskar. Directed more than ten acclaimed features and nine documentaries; received the National Film Award for Best Documentary for his film on SuchitraMitra, noted Rabindra-sangeet exponent; and National Award for Best Film on Family Welfare for his feature film Atmiyaswajan(2000). One of the most lauded directors of television in India, noted for adaptations of literary classics into TV shorts and serials, including the memorable Subarnalata, Samparka, ArogyaNiketan, TarashankarerChhotoGalpo, Galpaguchchha, BankimSahityeyNari.
Among the film-makers of Bengal, RAJA SEN perhaps is considered as the most committed and versatile film director. He is a humanist, who firmly believes in “portraying the victory of mankind after a course of conflicts with surroundings". This famous film director in Kolkata is married to Papiya Sen and is blessed with two daughters.

He has been the Jury member for Oscar of FFSI-2011. In the year 2012, he was an honourable Jury member for National Award. Mr. Sen was also the prestigious Jury Chairman (Non- fiction) for Indian Panoroma-2013.
